... "Changing that dynamic does not appear likely, due in no small part to a virtual media blackout on the story, with the exception of limited reach niche readership efforts like this column and Tea Party Patriots of Luna County (which has done exceptional work fleshing out the details and back story of the case). Add to that a predisposition of gun owners, at least those who have even heard about this case, to talk about it but not really do much else, especially when it comes to informing their friends and adding a few dollars to the defense fund now and then." ... |

"Anyone who has followed the gun rights/'gun control' debate for even a short time has heard the gun prohibition lobby's incessant yammering about the mythical "gun show loophole," and more recently, the outright lie that '40% of gun sales occur without a background check.' That last has been repeatedly uttered by nearly every forcible citizen disarmament jihadist in America, from Obama on down, despite even the rabidly anti-gun, pro-Obama Washington Post giving that claim 'three Pinocchios' for brazen mendacity.
"Those claiming that 'gun violence' is exacerbated by easily avoided background checks, particularly at gun shows, now have a new problem, this one coming from Virginia. ..." ... |

"'Another arrest has put Orlando International in the lead for the number of guns seized at Florida airports, perhaps boosting police hopes for signs warning OIA travelers against bringing loaded weapons into the terminal,' orlandosentinel.com reports. 'A loaded pistol confiscated Thursday from a Texan broke Orlando’s tie with Tampa International Airport for statewide bragging, or blushing, rights, for a total of 29 handguns so far this year.” That still puts Orlando one behind Salt Lake City, who found their 30th gun last Tuesday, packed in the carryon of a man going to Vegas, baby! ... "The CCW class that I took several years ago was expertly delivered and covered basics of safe firearm handling along with legal ramifications, but that was about it. I left entirely unprepared to use my concealed carry weapon effectively. It was not the instructor’s fault. In fact, he repeatedly cautioned us that simply because we have a license to carry a weapon does not mean we have the training necessary to carry it effectively. I must say his warning fell on deaf ears at the time and I figured it was just a sales pitch ... I went on my merry way thinking to myself, 'I’ve got this, no problem. I’m a member of a local gun club and I have become pretty good at poking holes in paper at various distances. I’m ok. I’m ready. I can do this.' Wrong, wrong wrong . . ." ... |

"I presently have three handgun safes. One in the bedroom, one in the living room (furthest from the front door) and one next to my desk in my home office. I only sleep in my bedroom for about 6-9 hours and usually go to bed between 1 and 2 am. I am in home office from about 8 am until 8 pm. At 8 pm I am in the living room until about 10 or 11 pm. After that I am back in my home office until I go to sleep. As you can see, I spend the majority of my time in my home office. However, I have three home defense guns that are constantly being rotated from room to room because I cannot make up my mind which gun is best for which location. ..." ... |

"I know. You’re shocked. How could a progressive superstar possibly be a hypocrite on gun control? I mean, other than the whole armed guards thing. Well, here ya go. 'I think the best response to the use of poison gas by President Bashar al-Assad is not a cruise missile attack on Assad’s forces, but an increase in the training and arming of the Free Syrian Army — including the antitank and antiaircraft weapons it’s long sought.' "For many years, the gun ban lobby has portrayed the National Rifle Association as the big money bully in the gun control debate, but stories published today and yesterday suggest that the real big spender is anti-gun New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who has dumped a wad of cash into thwarting a Colorado recall election in defense of two Democrats who could get the boot for backing that state’s new gun control laws." ... |

"There was another school shooting recently, near Atlanta, and this one was relatively benign. The gunman walked into an elementary school, told employees to call the police, fired five or six rounds from his assault rifle, and surrendered. Yawn. It’s a hiccup in the news cycle."
"Of course, the NRA repeatedly assures us, with their perky charm—Wayne LaPierre never fails to remind me of Hermione Granger—that if some teacher had been armed, he (or she) could have taken the shooter out. Or he could’ve generated a lively crossfire that would’ve killed some children instead of having them emerge, physically, at least, unharmed." ... |

"That is exactly what happened in this case."
"Mabel Fletcher, 64-year-old disabled woman living in Ohio said she got her concealed weapons permit and a 9mm Glock handgun back in June for self defense."

The NRA was unwilling to wait even until the next election to try to remove these two brave legislators from office as punishment for supporting commonsense gun reform legislation . . ." ... |

"THE FOCUS of Pueblo’s Senate District 3 recall against state Sen. Angela Giron is her voting record — and not just her support for gun-control legislation that triggered the election in the first place."
"The Pueblo Democrat’s votes for a package of gun-control bills prompted advocates for the Second Amendment right to bear arms to petition for her recall. Certainly, people of good will can and often do differ on gun control versus the Second Amendment."

"Mexican prosecutors say they are looking into claims that a woman who killed two bus drivers last week in this northern border city was seeking revenge for alleged sexual abuse of female passengers."

"A woman wearing a blond wig — or dyed hair — boarded one of the school bus-style vehicles that serve as transport in Ciudad Juarez on Wednesday morning. She approached the driver, took out a pistol, shot him in the head and left the bus. The next day, apparently the same woman did exactly the same thing to another driver on the same route." ... |
