The City of Atlanta Police Department said the level of gun violence is concerning and are taking steps to remove illegal guns from the streets. "We have to do something about the gun violence in Atlanta," said Sergeant Warren Pickard with Atlanta Police. "As police officers it's very concerning to us the level of gun violence that is taking place in the city." Sergeant Pickard said the department has a gun reduction task force in place. "Operation Whiplash" has allowed officers to move 1,300 guns off the streets since February, said Sergeant Pickard.

The calendar has turned to September, and so hunting seasons are underway in Montana. Education coordinator Vivaca Crowser said archery season began with the start of the Labor Day weekend. “We’re really surrounded now by hunting and fishing seasons, it’s that time of year,” Crowser said. “We have archery season opening this weekend, that’s a big one, we have some bird seasons already underway and some that will open a little bit later as we move into the fall. We have already had some shoulder seasons for elk, and really, it’s not too far off that we’ll have the general big game opener at the start of November.”

While Hillary Clinton has cunningly mislead Americans into believing she will not violate citizens’ constitutional right to bear arms, it’s no secret that she has made “gun violence prevention” a cornerstone of her presidential platform.
But — as with all promises made by politicians — the devil is in the details. So let’s dissect Clinton’s stated positions regarding the Second Amendment and translate into her real intentions, which by any measure will result in an attempt disarm the American public. |

If you follow A1F’s “Carry Life” column, you will know we’ve been on a bit of a tear lately regarding magazines for semi-automatic pistols. The rationale is straightforward: Through long and unpleasant experience—extensively observed, as well as our own—we’ve learned what a high percentage of reliability issues are actually magazine-sourced. |

Classes are now underway on state university campuses in Texas, where a new law went into effect last month allowing anyone with a concealed weapon license to bring a handgun on to campus, as long as it remains concealed. At the University of Houston, many students, like Ali Rajwani, express little concern. “I am pretty indifferent about it,” Rajwani said. “It is not like I think ‘Oh, God, I am going to be shot on campus!’ I don’t feel that in any way. I don’t really feel any change at all.” |

Despite reporting a very strong first quarter, shares of Smith & Wesson (NASDAQ:SWHC) ended flat-to-lower. The stock initially bounced 5%, but then retreated 6% from these levels, as an analyst downgrade weighed on sentiment. At a forward P/E of 12.9, SWHC looks cheap based on the fundamentals. However the stock has risen more than 70% in the past year, and there are fears that the gun industry has reached the peak of its latest cycle.
