A surprising percentage of gun sales to 18-29-year-old Americans go to gun buyers the left rarely wishes to acknowledge — women.
To talk about women buying guns is to undercut the left’s tired excuse that more and more guns are simply being purchased by the same old white men.
According to Bustle, personal protection is a big driver for Millennial females who buy guns — and so is “empowerment.” Shea Drake said, “I grew up in a hunting family, and while I haven’t gone hunting in about 10 years, I still target shoot fairly regularly.” |

We often think of millennials as being more liberal than older generations, usually based on their voting patterns. But when it comes to individual issues, millennials can't all be painted with a uniformly left-wing brush. One such issue is gun control. In October 2015, a Gallup poll found that, while 57 percent of 30-49 year olds and 56 percent of 50-64 year olds support stricter gun laws, gun control was only supported by 50 percent of people aged 18-29. (Millennials, in case you forgot, are technically people 35 and younger.) It's a mistake to think that all pro-gun or anti-regulation millennials are men; millennial women are buying and using guns, too. Bustle talked to a few of them to figure out why. |

The charges, according to one expert, raise interesting legal questions.
Jeff Welty, an associate professor and expert in firearms laws at the UNC School of Government, said going armed to the terror of the people is a common law, meaning it comes from English law instead of a state statute, and is tricky to prove.
“The complicated part of it is that in North Carolina, very generally, it is lawful for a person to engage in open carry, that is a person who is legally entitled to own a firearm or possess a firearm, can walk around carrying a firearm,” he said. |

Options include locking guns in a safe, using a polycarbonate display case or one that has security film, installing steel roll-down doors on all floor-to-ceiling windows, or locking guns in a regular display case by running a steel cable through the trigger guards while placing concrete bollards in front of the store, according to Hill’s office.
Many gun stores may already have these safety provisions in place but, for those that aren’t, the goal is to slow down thieves. Stores may have security systems in place, but smash-and-grab burglars can escape before law enforcement has time to arrive and creating a two- or three-minute window can make a huge difference, he explained. |

As the U.S. Virgin Islands braced for Hurricane Irma to make landfall, Gov. Kenneth Mapp on Tuesday authorized the National Guard to confiscate privately owned guns and ammunition, and any property it might need to respond to the disaster. This development is both unbelievably shortsighted, and wrong. Gov. Mapp’s emergency order is subject to approval by the justice department of the U.S. Virgin Islands and comes alongside assurances from President Donald Trump that every resource needed will be available to the territory. |

The Vitter Amendment, otherwise known as the Disaster Recovery Personal Protection Act of 2006, was passed following the order of the mayor of New Orleans to confiscate firearms in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
David Codrea, writing for Oathkeepers, called this order by the Islands’ governor a “setup for the unconstitutional seizure of Hurricane Katrina all over again. Presumably, if a citizen defies the guard, the escalation of force up to and including lethal will be authorized and ‘legal.’”
Chris Cox, the executive director of the National Rifle Association (NRA), fired off a protest of the threatened illegal and unconstitutional action: |

In the Virgin Islands — the government’s coming for your guns.
The governor of the U.S. Virgin Islands signed an emergency order allowing the adjutant general to seize private properties needed for national protection from Hurricane Irma fallout — including privately owned firearms, ammunition and explosives. Specifically, the governor, the independent Kenneth Mapp, told A.G. Deborah Howell in the order to “take whatever actions she considers necessary” to keep law and order in the face of Hurricane Irma.
And apparently, that means taking guns from lawful owners to give to the National Guard. |

The MantisX firearms training system is a smart phone app-based system that you can use to better your shooting skills in the comfort of your own home.
The system works in the house or at the range because it works with both live fire and dry-fire (just be sure the gun is unloaded when using the dry-fire training option). |

State Senators Tom Casperson and Tonya Schuitmaker have introduced a bill to allow foster parents to carry firearms in a holster.
A 2015 law requires all firearms legally possessed in foster homes to be locked in a gun case or stored with a trigger lock, separate from ammunition. The bill stems from a case in Ontonagon where a grandfather was told he couldn’t carry his gun in a holster if he’s fostering his grandchild.
Casperson says the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has no authority to force someone to give up their constitutional Second Amendment rights. |

An anti-NRA feature story posted last weekend at salon.com is so devoid of logic and fact that it’s hard to even know where to begin in discussing it.
Titled “6 gun groups that aren’t for white right-wingers,” the author, Kali Holloway, attempts to talk about some pro-gun groups that apparently aren’t “like” the National Rifle Association. But before getting to her rundown of such groups, she shows her blatant lack of understanding of law-abiding gun owners and the NRA in more ways than one, turning her reporting into just another example of fake news. |

In the end, only one number really mattered when it came to Tucson stopping its policy of destroying guns in city possession — $57 million.
That is the amount in annual state-shared revenues the city would have have to forgo if it defied a ruling by the Arizona State Supreme Court that the practice conflicted with state law. Specifically, the ruling affirmed that surplus property must be auctioned to the highest bidders. |

THE U.S. suicide rate is at an all-time high. We now lose more Americans to suicide than to traffic fatalities, breast cancer or prostate cancer. The recent suicides of musicians Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington focus public attention on suicide. But we typically lose that attention quickly because the work that lies ahead seems daunting. Our nation’s suicide rate is the result of complex social and economic trends contributing to the isolation, disempowerment and traumatization of the U.S. population. |

Ricky Lovelien and Steven Stewart were acquitted of all 10 charges they faced, and the jury delivered not-guilty findings on most charges against Scott Drexler and Eric Parker. Federal prosecutors will retry Drexler and Parker on those charges that the jury could not reach a verdict on. In addition, there are 17 other participants who face charges related to the incident who have not been tried yet.
Constitutional conservatives believe the trial verdict was the result of jury nullification. They say Judge Navarro cut off defense witnesses and would not allow discussion of the First or Second Amendment during the trial. |

The Planning Board unanimously approved a 15-lane shooting range for the Route 23 south building that once housed the popular hamburger restaurant, Fuddruckers, despite concerns from residential neighbors.
Township officials confirmed the vacant, 13,500-square-foot facility lies within the highway commercial zone where a shooting range is considered a permitted use.
The Aug. 28 hearing marked the first and only appearance of Reloaderz NJ LLC before the planning body. |

A federal appeals court that is considering the landmark class action settlement covering millions of allegedly defective Remington rifles has now heard from a second group of state attorneys general — this one urging the court to approve the settlement.
Previously, a coalition of attorneys general from 13 states and the District of Columbia, led by Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey, argued that the court should reject the settlement because they said it does not do enough to protect public safety. |

And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time that this people preserve the spirit of resistance?
