Forbes is reporting Tuesday that “Former Vice President Joseph Biden and Sen. Kamala Harris are pushing for an aggressive gun control policy that is making gun makers nervous and having the unintended effect of driving sales to epic proportions,” and all the available data and anecdotal evidence appears to support that.
Writer Aaron Smith notes in his report, “The gun control policy of Biden and Harris, should they become the next President and Vice President, is to crack down on tactical-style semiautomatic rifles, including AR-15s, and high capacity magazines with a capacity of 10 or more rounds.”

Lawmakers in California are piling Gov. Gavin Newsom's desk with anti-gun legislation including bills that could sting gun shops and make it harder for hunters under 21 to pursue their sport. The California legislature last week approved AB 2362, which would levy high fines on licensed gun dealers for minor violations, and SB 914 which increases red tape for those under 21 looking to exercise their right to keep and bear arms. |

American students are notoriously bad at geography, and have been for some time. In 2002, for instance – the year after the 9/11 attacks – only 17% of American students could find Afghanistan on a map. In 2016, less than one third were able to score a minimal pass of 66% on the National Geographic Global Literacy Survey. In 2015, the United States Government Accountability Office reported that 75% of eighth grade students don’t even know what geography is. |

Not satisfied with restrictive gun control measures already enacted by the New Mexico Legislature, like the ban on private firearms transfers and a red flag gun confiscation law, the Albuquerque City Council is poised to consider three additional gun control measures in September: Resolution R-20-68 urges the New Mexico Legislature to strip the firearms preemption clause from Article II, Section 6 (the Right to Keep and Bear Arms provision) of the State Constitution and put that revision to voters for approval. |

Recent political protests and associated gun violence in Wisconsin have put a spotlight on vigilantism and the rights of Americans under the Constitution to both peaceably protest and bear arms freely. These topics, inextricably linked these days, were the focus of a Tuesday discussion by two Duke law scholars who took part in a virtual media briefing with journalists.

In a record-breaking year for gun buying, the biggest spike in firearms purchases came as protests and riots broke out across the nation in June, a Washington Free Beacon analysis of FBI data indicates. While March saw the most guns sold thus far in 2020, seasonally adjusted data show that it was June—the month after the death of George Floyd and subsequent onset of protests and civil unrest—that most exceeded expectations, massively outpacing usually languid summertime sales.

It’s official. The number of gun purchases in 2020 reflected by an FBI National Instant Criminal Background System (NICS) check as of Sept. 1 exceeds those processed for the entire year of 2019. Jurgen Brauer, Small Arms Analytics & Forecasting chief economist, said in a press release issued Sept. 1, “At nearly 15 million units sold, the sales pace thus far this year now exceeds the total 12-months sales of 2019 by just over one million firearms. With the hunting season about to begin in earnest and the presidential election season about to start in earnest as well, 2020 will without doubt exceed the previous high of 16.6 million units sold in 2016.” |

A youngster’s first hunt can mark the beginning of a lifelong passion for the outdoors and a commitment to wildlife conservation. There is no finer time to begin this journey than during Vermont’s upcoming youth waterfowl hunting weekend on September 26 and 27. “Vermont’s youth waterfowl hunting weekend helps ensure that young hunters get the quality training and experiences they need for lifelong participation,” said Fish & Wildlife Commissioner Louis Porter. “By design, the youth weekend hunt reinforces the route of initiation that is critical in recruitment — learning from an experienced adult role model.” |

The “Red Flag” menace is a reality in more than a dozen states and there could be even more on the way by the time you read this since the concept seems to be all the rage. And it is, after all, an election year so politicians want to appear to be “doing something to prevent tragedies.” “Red Flag” is something of a generic term. It is actually an Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO), so listen or look for this term in any news stories about such measures. |

True to form, the M&P15 is an AR-15 style rifle, though the Performance Center badging begs the question of what performance S&W enhanced; after all, the AR-15 is one of the most diversely functional rifles in the world. Having the Performance Center tune a rifle is like having Chip Foose overhaul your hotrod! Taking a look at the upgrades the rifle received, I got an immediate sense the plan had everything to do with accuracy. |

Montana Governor Steve Bullock (D) has been very active during the long 2020 campaign season. First, in May of 2019, he jumped into the race to be the Democrat nominee to face off against President Donald Trump (R) this November. After several months, however, and failing to break 1% of support in any national polls, he jumped back out of the race in December 2019. |

In 1936, Walther Arms collaborated with Gustav Genschow and Company (GECO) to produce the 9x18 Ultra on behalf of the Luftwaffe, the illegally formed aerial branch of the German military. By the time World War II broke out, the Luftwaffe had become the most powerful military force in Europe.
In light of the new military’s impending needs, the Germans had requested a round to replace the less powerful .380 ACP. The 9x18 Ultra was born, keeping the same rim dimensions and 100 grain weight. World War II interrupted the progress of the invention, and the cartridge was not officially adopted until Walther introduced the Walther PP Super (PP Super) in 1972.
