This notion of “law abiding” gun owners is a false construct. When laws are twisted from their original, outdated meaning, it puts our safety and security at risk.
Let’s start with facts. There is NO federal law that allows for individual, private ownership of firearms in the United States. Not even the Second Amendment. The political lobbyist and special interest group known as the National Rifle Association, which represents gun manufacturers, worked over several years to subvert and change the general interpretation of the Second Amendment from its original intent. They spent a ton of money over several decade and pushed their selfish agenda, thus making our society far less safe. |

In order to comply with the Constitution, Congress has enacted federal laws to execute and enforce this constitutional requirement.

Despite recent SCOTUS decisions, and others, some people still just cannot accept reality. The plain meaning of the words in the second amendment; "the right OF THE PEOPLE to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed," they still don't GET that it IS the right of THE PEOPLE! That is YOU , and ME. It's THEM, too, despite their determinedly ignorant denial of it. If they choose not to own arms, fine, that's their choice. I will maintain my rights. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
"Some people think that the Second Amendment is an outdated relic of an earlier time. Doubtless some also think that constitutional protections of other rights are outdated relics of earlier times. We The People own those rights regardless, unless and until We The People repeal them. For those who believe it to be outdated, the Second Amendment provides a good test of whether their allegiance is really to the Constitution of the United States, or only to their preferences in public policies and audiences. The Constitution is law, not vague aspirations, and we are obligated to protect, defend, and apply it. If the Second Amendment were truly an outdated relic, the Constitution provides a method for repeal. The Constitution does not furnish the federal courts with an eraser." --9th Circuit Court Judge Andrew Kleinfeld, dissenting opinion in which the court refused to rehear the case while citing deeply flawed anti-Second Amendment nonsense (Nordyke v. King; opinion filed April 5, 2004) |
