Burgess told The Seattle Times he expects the city would be sued if one or both of his proposals become law, because the state prohibits municipalities from regulating firearms.
Alan Gottlieb, founder of the Bellevue-based Second Amendment Foundation, says state law makes the proposed Seattle gun violence tax "dead on arrival."
"They're wrong, and they know it," Gottlieb said. "They're just wearing their anti-gun philosophy on their sleeves."
He cited a lawsuit brought by his organization and other parties that in 2010 forced Seattle to scrap a rule banning guns in parks. |

slowly losing the city inch by inch. It's like all the kalipornians that came here are turning it into california, replete with gangland graffiti on all traffic signs from the north end to the south end on I5, and open view homeless. I can remember in the 80s their (LA and san fran) extreme chasms between rich and poor----by design, to keep the riffraff out of their designated enclave: now people are leaving and not buying real estate in seattle with a median price of $500K.

Dinesh D'Souza "... to the Muslim fighters, #ISIS will stop trying to kill them and give him a big hug!" the Muslims are laughing at Obama—and for once, it's hard to disagree with them! |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
By calling attention to a well-regulated militia for the security of the Nation, and the right of each citizen to keep and bear arms, our Founding Fathers recognized the essentially civilian nature of our economy. Although it is extremely unlikely that the fears of governmental tyranny, which gave rise to the second amendment, will ever be a major danger to our Nation, the amendment still remains an important declaration of our basic military-civilian relationships, in which every citizen must be ready to participate in the defense of the country. For that reason I believe the second amendment will always be important. --JOHN F. KENNEDY |
