In an article published by Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson, The right to bear arms should extend to black men, too, he cites the cases of black men who thought they had the same open-carry gun rights as whites but died because that was not the case.
In light of the killings in the Fort Lauderdale airport one of the locations that Sen. Greg Steube is proposing for gun rights extension and the racial implications of extending gun rights in a nation where rights are not always equal, we ask that Sen. Steube reconsider his efforts. They may further endanger us. |

Did I go through a time warp and land in 1868? The 2A applies to EVERYONE, regardless of race, gender, religious affiliation, political affiliation. This ought to be settled law and unquestioned law.
If, in actual practice, black people are not acknowledged to have the same inalienable rights as everyone else, then something is very seriously WRONG and must be corrected!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Are blacks more likely to be hassled or even arrested for lawful open carry? Yep, at least in Detroit they are.
Are blacks more likely to be executed for doing nothing illegal? Nope, statistics show cops are more reluctant to shoot blacks than they are to shoot whites. |

E. Robinson is just another media-connected PLE abusing his "bully pulpit" to maintain their "plantation meme" to curtail the Black Community's civil rights ! Until 1/20/2009 this would be a "nothing burger" ! But thanks to repeated and continued incitement issuing from 1600 PA Ave we have a litany of impressionable minority teens and adults engaging in physical confrontations with police resulting in their being shot . OTOH, thousands of ( often armed ) minorities - including blacks - interact with police daily without being shot . Perhaps the Black Community ought to be asking "WHY" ? |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
I do believe that where there is a choice only between cowardice and violence, I would advise violence. Thus when my eldest son asked me what he should have done had he been present when I was almost fatally assaulted in 1908 [by an Indian extremist opposed to Gandhi's agreement with Smuts], whether he should have run away and seen me killed or whether he should have used his physical force which he could and wanted to use, and defend me, I told him it was his duty to defend me even by using violence. Hence it was that I took part in the Boer War, the so-called Zulu Rebellion and [World War I]. Hence also do I advocate training in arms for those who believe in the method of violence. I would rather have India resort to arms in order to defend her honor than that she should in a cowardly manner become or remain a helpless witness to her own dishonor. Mohandas K. Gandhi, Young India, August 11, 1920 from Fischer, Louis ed.,The Essential Gandhi, 1962 |
