The recent eruption of gun violence at a church in Texas has some area churches buzzing. A few are contemplating beefing up security by adding cameras, armed security or perhaps even encouraging those with the proper carry permits to bring a weapon to church. “Years ago security at church was never thought of. But now we need to be more vigilant in protecting our churches and our congregations,” Washington County Virginia Sheriff Fred Newman was quoted Monday by the Bristol Herald Courier.

"Don't bring your gun to church."
Yep. No need. The next active shooter will bring one instead so there'll be a gun there, no problem. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
Besides the advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation, the existence of subordinate governments, to which the people are attached, and by which the militia officers are appointed, forms a barrier against the enterprises of ambition, more insurmountable than any which a simple government of any form can admit of. Notwithstanding the military establishments in the several kingdoms of Europe, which are carried as far as the public resources will bear, the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms. — James Madison, The Federalist Papers, No. 46 |
