"'They are coming to take your guns away!' That was the message from this past weekend’s annual NRA Convention. In fact, it’s the same message we have heard for years from the NRA. And just as it has been in the past, as it was this weekend, that message is a lie."
"No one in the Obama administration or any Democratic administration has ever tried to take law-abiding citizens guns away. Even when President Bill Clinton signed into law the assault weapons ban ... it 'grandfathered in weapons and ammo clips produced or purchased before the enactment of the ban.'"
"There are now nearly 300 million guns in the United States. It would be impossible to take even a fraction of those guns away from people. ..." ... |

Apparently this fool is either outright lying or conveniently forgets Diane Feinstein's famous quote,"Banning guns addresses a fundamental right of all Americans to feel safe" (she is apparently the only one to find that right in the Constitution), and of course the "If I could have banned them all - 'Mr. and Mrs. America turn in your guns' - I would have!"; or Obama's comment this week how 'it's heartbreaking' they couldn't get more gun control passed through Congress
So, Mr. Obeidallah, who's the real liar here?

Seems Mr. LaPierre started his career with the NRA in a similar vein back when he was a field grunt shilling for members as I recall. There certainly has to be reasons for the emerging animus twixt Wayne and Mr. Cox. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
"Some people think that the Second Amendment is an outdated relic of an earlier time. Doubtless some also think that constitutional protections of other rights are outdated relics of earlier times. We The People own those rights regardless, unless and until We The People repeal them. For those who believe it to be outdated, the Second Amendment provides a good test of whether their allegiance is really to the Constitution of the United States, or only to their preferences in public policies and audiences. The Constitution is law, not vague aspirations, and we are obligated to protect, defend, and apply it. If the Second Amendment were truly an outdated relic, the Constitution provides a method for repeal. The Constitution does not furnish the federal courts with an eraser." --9th Circuit Court Judge Andrew Kleinfeld, dissenting opinion in which the court refused to rehear the case while citing deeply flawed anti-Second Amendment nonsense (Nordyke v. King; opinion filed April 5, 2004) |
