The aftermath is often the same, too. We’re reminded that no country in the world has the level of gun violence we do, which comes as no surprise when you consider we have roughly 5% of the world’s population and at least one-third of the civilian-owned firearms.
In the name of self-defense, American citizens can legally purchase enough firepower to bring down herds of elephants.
We get the same old calls for gun control, specifically assault weapons such as those used in San Bernardino to mow down the maximum possible number of human beings. But those calls always fade quietly due in large part to the gun lobby's control of Congress. |

The violence in much of Africa exceeds the rate in the USA although the use of guns in committing the violence may be lower. They just substitute other weapons including spears and machetes.
And leave out the murders in African-American enclaves such as Baltimore and Chicago, and the USA would be near the bottom of the list.
And the reason that Congress doesn't cave in to the liberal demands is because a majority of them understand that any new restrictions on guns will only affect the good citizens who are not causing any problems.
See how well France's draconian restrictions on gun purchase and ownership worked in stopping the terrorism in that country.

The criminals, sickos, and wackos will get guns regardless of any restrictions placed on the law abiding citizens.
The most effective measure to reduce the number of mass killings would be to eliminate victim disarmament zones. I for one do not carry as much as I used to because unlike Pennsylvania, half the establishments in Texas prohibit concealed carry. |

Out of 212 world countries the US rank in murder rate per 100,000 is not number 1, number 2, or number 3. Its number 113 or the top of the bottom half. |
