We all know the "Grey Lady's" editorial stance on firearms doesn't make story accuracy a priority. But the "open/concealed" conflict isn't one of "rights. Its one of situation. For those pursuing outdoor activities far from quick help a holstered handgun is valuable. Its also possible these folks come to town at the end of the day. Leaving a handgun in an unattended vehicle would be foolish or reckless. Anyone not expecting to encounter someone with a open holstered handgun and belt knife - particularly in rural regions in hunting/fishing season is obtuse. OTOH carrying a hogleg down to Wallyworld just because you can is equally so. In sheepville CCW is the way to go - you won't be the perp's first target. |

Resistance to sudden violence, for the preservation not only of my person, my limbs, and life, but of my property, is an indisputable right of nature which I have never surrendered to the public by the compact of society, and which perhaps, I could not surrender if I would. — JOHN ADAMS |
