Police say a retired law enforcement officer acted in self-defense when he shot a North Bellmore man who was beating him over the head with a metal flashlight.
The road rage incident took place just after 11 p.m. Tuesday on Bellmore Road near Magnolia Road.
Police say 47-year-old Michael Bua cut off a 62-year-old retired police officer, prompting the drivers to get out of their cars and start arguing. Police say Bua then started hitting the retired officer in the head with the flashlight. That’s when the unnamed retired officer pulled out his licensed gun. |

"The retired officer has had his license permit suspended pending an investigation."
Newsflash: Per federal law, he doesn't NEED a permit. His retired credentials are sufficient, and they cannot be 'suspended'. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
"Secrecy is the keystone of all tyranny. Not force, but secrecy ... censorship. When any government, or any church, for that matter, undertakes to say to it's subjects, 'This you may not read, this you must not see, this you are forbidden to know,' the end result is tyranny and oppression, no matter how holy the motives. Mighty little force is needed to control a man whose mind has been hoodwinked; contrariwise, no amount of force can control a free man, a man whose mind is free. No, not the rack, not fission bombs, not anything. You cannot conquer a free man; the most you can do is kill him." --Robert A. Heinlein, "Revolt in 2100" (Pg. 68-69, Baen Books paperback edition, 1999 printing) |
