The Times newspaper has waded into the US Second Amendment debate, blaming gun crime in Britain on the sale of blank-firing pistols sourced from across the Atlantic.
Gun crime spiked immediately after the total ban of handguns in the United Kingdom in 1997, and has been fluctuating ever since, as police struggled to contain the flow of imported banned weapons which easily find their way into criminal hands. One method of acquiring a working firearm is the purchase of pistol blank-firers – which can be modified to take live ammunition – from dealers in other countries who will post them by ordinary mail to addresses in the United Kingdom, where they are illegal.

Next time their pathetic little kingdom (queendom?) comes under armed attack, to whom will they address their letters pleading for donations of firearms to help save them?

What a pathetic position to blame the US for their crime. Actually, most of their illegal weapons are smuggled in from eastern Europe. |

The UK is a gun grabbers scientific experiment and wet dream. They are an island completely surrounded by ocean. Sounds like they can't control their own borders and what commerce comes and goes. The people that live there can't obviously be trusted with any kind of weapon such as firearms or knives. They would be an easy takeover by Putin. All unarmed victims. They live in a big "no knives or guns zone". |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
As an individual, I believe, very strongly, that handguns should be banned and that there should be stringent, effective control of other firearms. However, as a judge, I know full well that the question of whether handguns can be sold is a political one, not an issue of products liability law, and that this is a matter for the legislatures, not the courts. The unconventional theories advanced in this case (and others) are totally without merit, a misuse of products liability laws. — Judge Buchmeyer, Patterson v. Gesellschaft, 1206 F.Supp. 1206, 1216 (N.D. Tex. 1985) |
