"I believe in the Second Amendment right to bear arms."
"That has been fundamental since the Bill of Rights was approved."
"However, the bill to allow college students to arm themselves in classroom buildings is poorly thought out."
"If college students feel threatened, where are the student petitions? Are there thousands of college students in Texas marching in protest to be allowed to carry guns?"
"If college students feel so threatened on our campuses, why haven’t we heard from them in large numbers?" ... |

Why should the lack of a mass protest allow MY personal God-given right to be infringed?
The Second Amendment applies to ALL citizens, not just those represented by a mob. |

The writer lapses into Fuddism immediately upon beginning the treatise. "I support the Second Amendment BUT...."
No rational person would believe that a student of age who has been vetted and issued a carry permit would act any differently or less trustworthy because of a location.
The writer is a dunce. |

Seems a lot of folks conveniently forget the Texas Tower incident 8/1/66. One aspect that probably reduced the death toll was one or more students grabbing rifles from personal vehicles on campus and taking the sniper under fire. If memory serves one assisted in the final assault on the sniper.
If anyone has been vetted by his PD and the USG, how does some mud college dean justify finding fault with the judgement ? |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
No kingdom can be secured otherwise than by arming the people. The possession of arms is the distinction between a freeman and a slave. He, who has nothing, and who himself belongs to another, must be defended by him, whose property he is, and needs no arms. But he, who thinks he is his own master, and has what he can call his own, ought to have arms to defend himself, and what he possesses; else he lives precariously, and at discretion. — James Burgh, Political Disquisitions: Or, an Enquiry into Public Errors, Defects, and Abuses [London, 1774-1775]. |
