Sixteen towns and cities in Central Massachusetts will participate in a gun buyback day Dec. 12 in honor of the victims of the Sandy Hook shooting, Mayor Joseph M. Petty announced Monday.
Part of Worcester's annual Goods for Guns program, the buyback will allow gun owners from any town to anonymously exchange their weapon for a gift card. Participating police departments include those in Worcester, Millbury, Grafton, Leicester, Southbridge, Oxford, Sturbridge, Northbridge and Webster, each of which will accept gun drop-offs. There were three drop-off sites last year.

Living proof that politicians are brain dead in many locations. Hey Worchester, you previously owned it when? |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
By calling attention to a well-regulated militia for the security of the Nation, and the right of each citizen to keep and bear arms, our Founding Fathers recognized the essentially civilian nature of our economy. Although it is extremely unlikely that the fears of governmental tyranny, which gave rise to the second amendment, will ever be a major danger to our Nation, the amendment still remains an important declaration of our basic military-civilian relationships, in which every citizen must be ready to participate in the defense of the country. For that reason I believe the second amendment will always be important. --JOHN F. KENNEDY |
