Gov. Terry McAuliffe vowed to keep fighting for tighter gun restrictions in Virginia after a gun-control group released a report Wednesday showing that nearly 60 percent of the state’s domestic homicides last year involved a firearm. Speaking at a midday news conference at the Capitol, McAuliffe said he is committed to “taking the guns out of the hands of dangerous abusers,” and again voiced his commitment to what he called “common-sense” legislation that previously has failed to pass in the Republican-controlled General Assembly.
The report from The Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence found that of 109 domestic homicides in Virginia last year, 64 were committed with guns. |

McCauliffe needs to stick his head up his own butt and fight for air.

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
We'll take one step at a time, and the first is necessarily - given the political realities - very modest. We'll have to start working again to strengthen the law, and then again to strengthen the next law and again and again. Our ultimate goal, total control of handguns, is going to take time. The first problem is to slow down production and sales. Next is to get registration. The final problem is to make possession of all handguns and ammunition (with a few exceptions) totally illegal. — Pete Shields, founder of Handgun Control, Inc., New Yorker Magazine, June 26, 1976, pg. 53 |
