Unfortunately, the music festival is put on by a private, not public, company, regardless of its location. While the city can't lawfully ban the carrying of arms on city property, the private entity leasing that property can at its event. During the term of that lease, it is in effect the promoter's property, not the city's.
It's just as the renter of public housing can ban guns inside, but the landlord (Housing Authority) can't.
Gun-free zones are stupid, but this challenge will be a loser. |
