The Cortland County town of Solon declared Thursday night that it will not enforce any new gun restrictions from New York state, the Cortland Standard reported. The board unanimously approved the “Town of Solon Second Amendment Preservation Act,” which declares any future state restrictions on guns or ammunition -- including any fees, regulations or background checks beyond what is already required -- violations of the Second Amendment and “null, void and of no effect."

All well and good, but what about the unconscionable SAFE Act already in place? This resolution merely says that anything beyond the SAFE Act will be moot, but the egregious damage of that act will be respected.
Political prestidigitation, of you ask ME. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
By calling attention to a well-regulated militia for the security of the Nation, and the right of each citizen to keep and bear arms, our Founding Fathers recognized the essentially civilian nature of our economy. Although it is extremely unlikely that the fears of governmental tyranny, which gave rise to the second amendment, will ever be a major danger to our Nation, the amendment still remains an important declaration of our basic military-civilian relationships, in which every citizen must be ready to participate in the defense of the country. For that reason I believe the second amendment will always be important. --JOHN F. KENNEDY |
