While on 14th Avenue North near Wheless Street in North Nashville Tuesday night, Jones told police that Arnold repeatedly hit the car he and Branch were in, disabling it. |

I linked to the article and read:
A Colorado man was forced to act in defense of his life, and the life of his pet. Just under two weeks ago, a camper at an outdoor area was alerted in the early morning by the barking of his dog.
When he exited his camper to investigate, he was greeted with a frightening scene—a bear was chasing his pet.
Instead, I read on this website's summary:

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
No kingdom can be secured otherwise than by arming the people. The possession of arms is the distinction between a freeman and a slave. He, who has nothing, and who himself belongs to another, must be defended by him, whose property he is, and needs no arms. But he, who thinks he is his own master, and has what he can call his own, ought to have arms to defend himself, and what he possesses; else he lives precariously, and at discretion. — James Burgh, Political Disquisitions: Or, an Enquiry into Public Errors, Defects, and Abuses [London, 1774-1775]. |
