The 2nd Amendment is twenty-seven words, three commas in two basic parts. First, “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state…” doesn’t have much to do with going to school, hunting squirrel or protecting the second half of the sentence. It doesn’t require linguistic or legal skills to decipher the meaning. Avid defenders of their rights can’t find five seconds to read what it says, ignoring intent or context as a matter of convenience. Weapons are a habit, comforting like sunshine and prayer. |

As this wave of gun violence continues in gun-free London, Sadiq Khan is wasting valuable police resources by having police hunt down “islamophobic hate crimes,” i.e., people saying things that Muslims don’t like on Twitter, or at Speakers’ Corner in Hyde Park. The new priority for London police is making sure that people adhere to sharia blasphemy laws. And more sharia is coming.

First, the Second Amendment as ratified by the States includes ONE comma, not three.
Second, as Justice Scalia wrote in D.C. v. Heller, "[T]he Second Amendment extends, prima facie, to all instruments that constitute bearable arms, even those not in existence at the time of the founding." - D.C. v. Heller (2008)
Quit beating this dead horse. The argument is now moot. |
