I am a responsible gun owner, as are the vast majority of gun owners. However, as demonstrated recently in Gilroy, El Paso and Dayton, some of our fellow citizens should not have access to weapons. It is time for three actions to stop the slaughter of innocent people.
First, stop the sale of all military-style automatic weapons like AK-47s and AR-15s, as well as high-capacity magazines. These items are designed to efficiently kill people during war and have no other legitimate use.
Second, we must have consistent and extensive background checks and waiting periods for the purchase of all guns in all states.

The elimination of what this idiot calls "assault rifles" would've resulted in 403 less folks that died in 2017 as a result of being shot by these firearms. About 1600 were killed with edged weapons that year. And I have no doubt that the killers would've found a substitute weapon to kill those 43 folks with. Banning ANYTHING is just a prelude to the next easy pickings for people who belive in control , not freedom. |

TO REMEMBER |
And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms....The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. — Thomas Jefferson in a letter to William S. Smith in 1787. Taken from Jefferson, On Democracy p. 20, S. Padover ed., 1939 |
