A young man, who police identify as a gang member, is dead. The person who shot him told police they stepped in when they saw D’Kobe Jordan threatening someone. Police have not released the shooter's name, only that he has a gun carry permit. They say Jordan was pointing a gun at another man in a parking lot. It happened around 6:30 Sunday night, so it was easy to see, that’s when the witness stepped in to help.

Note how quickly they are to cast doubt on the shooter's justification, i.e. if he had a "propensity to violence".
Under self-defense law, that factor (if it exists) is immaterial. What IS material is if that force was necessary to stop someone from killing or egregiously injuring an innocent person.
If the facts on the ground say so, Satan himself could be the shooter, and legally justified under the law. |

TO REMEMBER |
| To have no proud monarch driving over me with his gilt coaches; nor his host of excise-men and tax-gatherers insulting and robbing me; but to be my own master, my own prince and sovereign, gloriously preserving my national dignity, and pursuing my true happiness; planting my vineyards, and eating their luscious fruits; and sowing my fields, and reaping the golden grain: and seeing millions of brothers all around me, equally free and happy as myself. This, sir, is what I long for. -- General Francis Marion, American War of Independence, Georgetown, SC [Source: 'Marion, The Life of Gen. Francis Marion' by M. L. Weems, Ch.18] |
