Last week, a 25-year-old woman was standing at a bus stop before dawn on Chicago’s Far South Side when she was approached by a teen who attempted to rob her with a gun. Instead, the woman, a concealed carry permit holder, pulled out her own gun and shot and killed the 19-year-old.
On its face, this story may seem to make the case for the merits of concealed carry as a method of self-protection, especially for people living in high-crime neighborhoods. But the fact is that this scenario is an outlier. It is extremely rare for a legal gun owner to use a gun successfully in self-defense. |

Notice that the only "successful" defensive use of a gun leaves a dead bad guy according to the author. Seems like a bloodthirsty person who should not own a gun. He seems to be projecting his daydreams on peaceful gun owners who would only want to stop an attack. What do the stats look like if you include all the gun defenses that did not end with a body? Saying "I am armed," displaying a gun and even a warning shot (I would say I missed) should count too |

There's only two kinds of people: "BRAVE": Ready to face and endure danger or pain, showing courage...courageous, fearless, unflinching, unafraid, gutsy, ballsy. "COWARD": A person who lacks courage in facing danger, difficulty, opposition, pain, etc. A timid or easily intimidated person... Wimp, Yellow, Chicken, Mouse etc...Nuff said. |

Tell the woman that defended herself that having a gun put her at greater risk.
The only person at greater risk was the dirt bag that tried to rob her. Considering that the criminal justice system in Chicago is a joke, the only risk to armed robbers there is getting shot by the victim.
I for one applaud anyone that places armed robbers at greater risk. |

"Extremely rare " for a legal gun to be used successfully?
LIAR!
500,000 TO 2,000,000 people use guns to defend themselves each year in America.
That is NOT rare.
God how I hate media!!!! |

Memo to author: You can speak for yourself, but you can't speak for me. My gun keeps me safer. Your safety isn't my concern - it's yours. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.— Benjamin Franklin Historical Review of Pennsylvania. [Note: This sentence was often quoted in the Revolutionary period. It occurs even so early as November, 1755, in an answer by the Assembly of Pennsylvania to the Governor, and forms the motto of Franklin's "Historical Review," 1759, appearing also in the body of the work. — Frothingham: Rise of the Republic of the United States, p. 413. ] |
