I remember well my first solo shift as a police officer. I was sitting in my patrol vehicle, enveloped in excitement and equipment. Sig Sauer P220 sidearm, Remington 870 shotgun, Taser, OC pepper spray, and of course, the AR-15 (M-4).
Police officers know each piece of equipment intimately through years of training. Each piece of equipment secured in its proper place. Each piece of equipment, and its use, governed by myriad laws and regulations. Each piece of equipment designed to protect us and the community. Some of the equipment is designed to take a life, if necessary. |

Since there is no evidence from any state that allows campus carry that these assertions are valid, why do these dimwits keep writing such articles? |

How did "professors" become "at risk" individuals ? Presumably the state of FL is going to perform its "due diligence" before issuing a CCW to anyone - student or professor . In that regard the "playing field is level" ! So "where's the beef" ? From the article cited it seems one police officer is expressing his personal concern over increased situational training and officer responsibility for determining who's wearing the "white hats" in a fluid situation. But his officer also ignores the reality if he's deep in the s**t it may well be a CCW that comes to his aid. Sadly, we're seeing this all too frequently of late ! |

TO REMEMBER |
I do believe that where there is a choice only between cowardice and violence, I would advise violence. Thus when my eldest son asked me what he should have done had he been present when I was almost fatally assaulted in 1908 [by an Indian extremist opposed to Gandhi's agreement with Smuts], whether he should have run away and seen me killed or whether he should have used his physical force which he could and wanted to use, and defend me, I told him it was his duty to defend me even by using violence. Hence it was that I took part in the Boer War, the so-called Zulu Rebellion and [World War I]. Hence also do I advocate training in arms for those who believe in the method of violence. I would rather have India resort to arms in order to defend her honor than that she should in a cowardly manner become or remain a helpless witness to her own dishonor. — Mohandas K. Gandhi, Young India, August 11, 1920 from Fischer, Louis ed.,The Essential Gandhi, 1962 |
