Constitutional Rights are to be served by the state, not suppressed by it. No law abiding citizen should ever be charged a license fee for, or taxed by the State, in order to exercise a Freedom guaranteed by the Federal Constitution. |

Alabama is an open carry state, with some peculiar exceptions. You can walk around town with your gun holstered openly on your side .... get into your car and *oooooops* now you need that ccw permit. The govt. tried to fix this a few years ago but it didn't pass. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
The right of a citizen to bear arms, in lawful defense of himself or the State, is absolute. He does not derive it from the State government. It is one of the high powers" delegated directly to the citizen, and `is excepted out of the general powers of government.' A law cannot be passed to infringe upon or impair it, because it is above the law, and independent of the lawmaking power." [Cockrum v. State, 24 Tex. 394, at 401-402 (1859)] |
