Thirty thousand Americans die every year from gunshot wounds, whether from homicide, suicide, or accident. We have had several school shootings in the past several months, roughly one every sixty hours thus far in 2018. And our feckless leaders in the Senate and the House remain beholden to the National Rifle Association, a trade organization that has opposed any attempt to remedy the problem. While children die, they remind Americans that the Founding Fathers asserted in the Second Amendment that “a well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” |

As usual this anti gunner is skewing the facts. As an example there was only approximately 6,900 deaths by firearms in 2017.....not 30,000 as this man claims. |

How many times must we remind ivory tower idiots like this one that fundamental rights are endowed by our Creator and not the government? Since government didn't grant our rights, government has no legitimate authority to take them away.
"The right there specified is that of 'bearing arms for a lawful purpose'. This is not a right granted by the Constitution. Neither is it in any manner dependent upon that instrument for its existence." - U.S. v. Cruikshank (1875) |

I got a better idea .....if we're eliminating the 2A, then let's eliminate the first amendment, then I won't have to read this drivel, or listen to anyone I disagree with. /sarcasm off.
The number of people who defend themselves with guns each year is much greater than the murder rate. Should guns be taken from the good guys, I don't think the result would be what this author thinks it would be. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
I do believe that where there is a choice only between cowardice and violence, I would advise violence. Thus when my eldest son asked me what he should have done had he been present when I was almost fatally assaulted in 1908 [by an Indian extremist opposed to Gandhi's agreement with Smuts], whether he should have run away and seen me killed or whether he should have used his physical force which he could and wanted to use, and defend me, I told him it was his duty to defend me even by using violence. Hence it was that I took part in the Boer War, the so-called Zulu Rebellion and [World War I]. Hence also do I advocate training in arms for those who believe in the method of violence. I would rather have India resort to arms in order to defend her honor than that she should in a cowardly manner become or remain a helpless witness to her own dishonor. — Mohandas K. Gandhi, Young India, August 11, 1920 from Fischer, Louis ed.,The Essential Gandhi, 1962 |
