A Facebook post from some hyped-up gun group says I should show my patriotism by exercising my God-given right to carry a weapon. Why in heaven's name should I carry a gun? If someone came up to me in Walmart and shoved a Glock whatever in my ribs, a gun in my purse would do me no good whatsoever because I'd never be able to rummage through everything and get it out before he knocked my block off. |

Not what you'd call a "deep thinker".
ALL rights come from God, and the right to life (and to defend and preserve that life) is the FIRST right listed in our charter, the Declaration of Independence.
And THAT document is the foundational ethos of this nation, CHISELED IN GRANITE. |

Sad that she (assumed female due to purse comment) has such a victim mentality! Her comment ranks right up there with wetting your pants if attacked by a rapist! Better she give up than take a defensive action. Her ignorance is surpassed by her unwillingness to acknowledge that others are not as helpless as she desires to be. |

"Some people think that the Second Amendment is an outdated relic of an earlier time. Doubtless some also think that constitutional protections of other rights are outdated relics of earlier times. We The People own those rights regardless, unless and until We The People repeal them. For those who believe it to be outdated, the Second Amendment provides a good test of whether their allegiance is really to the Constitution of the United States, or only to their preferences in public policies and audiences. The Constitution is law, not vague aspirations, and we are obligated to protect, defend, and apply it. If the Second Amendment were truly an outdated relic, the Constitution provides a method for repeal. The Constitution does not furnish the federal courts with an eraser." --9th Circuit Court Judge Andrew Kleinfeld, dissenting opinion in which the court refused to rehear the case while citing deeply flawed anti-Second Amendment nonsense (Nordyke v. King; opinion filed April 5, 2004) |
