Two signs outside two metro-area churches display very different messages.
Pastor Tom Vineyard, from Higher Plain Baptist Church, and the Rev. Lori Walke, of Mayflower Congregational UCC, have different views on a new gun law that goes into effect Thursday.
"It saves lives," Vineyard said.
"More guns make places more dangerous," Walke said.
House Bill 2632 adds "places of worship" to the list of places where Oklahomans would have criminal and civil immunity if they used deadly force as a result of self defense -- like in the case of a potential mass shooting. |

| By calling attention to a well-regulated militia for the security of the Nation, and the right of each citizen to keep and bear arms, our Founding Fathers recognized the essentially civilian nature of our economy. Although it is extremely unlikely that the fears of governmental tyranny, which gave rise to the second amendment, will ever be a major danger to our Nation, the amendment still remains an important declaration of our basic military-civilian relationships, in which every citizen must be ready to participate in the defense of the country.
