Another mass school shooting. We know the drill. We will charge the alleged assailant with first-degree murder — not a deterrent, but it makes some people feel good. Self-defense classes will be offered — they don't really work, but they make people feel better. There will be makeshift memorials of teddy bears, flowers, candles and balloons — they don't change anything, but they make people feel better.
What has disappeared in the last year or so is any cry for prevention. What can we do to make sure this doesn't happen again? |

If you really want to stop school shootings, get rid of the prohibition on firearms in schools by law abiding citizens.
It should be obvious to anyone that the prohibition does not prevent those with malicious intent from bringing a firearm into schools. It only emboldens them as they know they will not encounter armed resistance and are unlikely to be shot themselves. Note that the last few school shooters surrendered to authorities. Clearly getting shot dead was not their intent.
It is clear to me that the responsibility for many of these school shootings rests clearly on the liberal politicians that prevent law abiding citizens/teachers/administrators from possessing the means to defend themselves and their students. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
"Let us contemplate our forefathers, and posterity, and resolve to maintain the rights bequeathed to us from the former, for the sake of the latter. The necessity of the times, more than ever, calls for our utmost circumspection, deliberation, fortitude, and perseverance. Let us remember that `if we suffer tamely a lawless attack upon our liberty, we encourage it, and involve others in our doom.' It is a very serious consideration...that millions yet unborn may be the miserable sharers of the event." --Samuel Adams, speech in Boston, 1771 |
