UT: Gun ownership isn’t a god-given right

A well-known candidate for governor claims to have a god-given right to have a gun. Greg Hughes, the candidate, is asking Christians to believe that God the Father, his Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost are committed to Hughes having a gun, a tool designed specifically for killing. Blasphemous? Delusional? Definitely not Christian.

The most recent Supreme Court interpretation of the Second Amendment limits the right to a gun in the home for self defense. Unfortunately, the gun addict can't survive separated from a weapon.

FACT CHECK: Jesus advised his followers if they had no weapon, to sell a robe and buy one. Of course they had no firearms, the weapon would have been a sword.

FACT CHECK: What court case limited the 2A only to home? I think this is a load of stierscheiss.

"Held:
"1. The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, SUCH AS self-defense within the home." - D.C. v. Heller (2008) Pp. 2–53. (emphasis mine)

That sentence clearly does not 'limit' the right to the home, it states that self-defense within the home is one of a variety of lawful purposes.

This guy's letter is a load of scheisse, indeed!

Remind this fool that Jesus instructed Peter to sheathe his sword after whacking the Roman soldier's ear off. The short sword was the sidearm of the times and Peter was NOT told to get rid of it at the next sword buyback ! Since toting it was OK with Jesus, I'm good with accepting it as a God given right !
