Gun safety advocates gathered at the Ohio Statehouse on Wednesday to push back against a slate of proposed gun bills they say would weaken public safety.
Members of Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action met at Trinity Episcopal Church and spoke with lawmakers about four pieces of legislation: House Bill 495, known as the Freedom to Carry Act; House Bill 108, the Self-Defense Protection Act; House Bill 382, the Second Amendment Protection Act; and Senate Bill 278, which would allow people to sue cities and towns over local gun-control measures. |

TO REMEMBER |
| No kingdom can be secured otherwise than by arming the people. The possession of arms is the distinction between a freeman and a slave. He, who has nothing, and who himself belongs to another, must be defended by him, whose property he is, and needs no arms. But he, who thinks he is his own master, and has what he can call his own, ought to have arms to defend himself, and what he possesses; else he lives precariously, and at discretion. — James Burgh, Political Disquisitions: Or, an Enquiry into Public Errors, Defects, and Abuses [London, 1774-1775]. |
