But with these freedoms come responsibility and limits. We can’t shout “fire” in a theater without facing consequences and we cannot say untruthful and damaging things about other citizens without facing potential liabilities. In addition, although we have a right to bear arms, there are limits to what we can do with the weapons we own.
All of these limits are pretty much taken for granted and those who go too far, find themselves in trouble either criminally or financially. As a youngster, I knew that if I wanted to go to college, I had better get a scholarship or I would probably have to take a job in the mill or construction. |
