Gabby Giffords is still an optimist. The former Arizona congresswoman had a cloak room named after her this week for her bravery in fighting gun violence—the same week a school in her neighboring state California faced a mass shooting that killed five people and injured several more. One week after a mass shooting in a Texas church killed 4 percent of a town’s population. One month after the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history left Las Vegas concertgoers reeling.

Gabby, I know you're brain damaged and that isn't your fault, so I'll try to make this easy to comprehend:
When somebody tries to murder you, you're the victim. Rehabilitating traumatic brain injury is hard work, but you have to do it.
When you work to steal the civil rights of innocent people because you feel like it's punishing the criminal who shot you, it's hard work because the people you're attacking, honest taxpayers who did nothing to you, will rightfully resist your efforts at tyranny.
I know it's hard to understand, but try to convince yourself what everybody else knows about you: Being brain-damaged does not make your opinions more important. |
