Letting properly trained teachers opt to carry a concealed weapon would at least give them a fighting chance.
And what’s the alternative when preventive measures fail? One Florida teacher talked about putting her students in a closet and guarding it with a pair of scissors.
Really? If a shooter came in, who in their right mind would rather have a pair of scissors than a gun?
Similarly, the Department of Homeland Security advises that if you can’t hide from or flee an active shooter, you should try "throwing items and improvising weapons." Who in that scenario would rather improvise weapons than have one already ready to fire? |

Willie Sutton was asked why he robbed banks. He famously replied, "Because that's where the money is."
Prisons are 'disproportionately' inhabited by blacks. Could it possibly be because they disproportionately commit more crimes?
You do the math. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
"Secrecy is the keystone of all tyranny. Not force, but secrecy ... censorship. When any government, or any church, for that matter, undertakes to say to it's subjects, 'This you may not read, this you must not see, this you are forbidden to know,' the end result is tyranny and oppression, no matter how holy the motives. Mighty little force is needed to control a man whose mind has been hoodwinked; contrariwise, no amount of force can control a free man, a man whose mind is free. No, not the rack, not fission bombs, not anything. You cannot conquer a free man; the most you can do is kill him." --Robert A. Heinlein, "Revolt in 2100" (Pg. 68-69, Baen Books paperback edition, 1999 printing) |
