Under the "Protect Our Military Families' Second Amendment Rights Act," military spouses would be allowed to buy a handgun outside their home states of record.
Right now, only the military member can make such a purchase. The 1968 Gun Control Act does not allow the wife or husband the same privilege.
"It's just something that needs to be corrected," said Rep. Scott Rigell (R-Va., 2nd District) "The service member has that right right now to purchase a firearm. That same right needs to be extended to a spouse." |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise, and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walks. — Thomas Jefferson, Encyclopedia of T. Jefferson, 318, Foley, Ed., reissued 1967. |
