Four people were killed and 22 others were injured in shootings in Chicago this weekend, including a man wounded by police and two young sisters struck in the legs while riding in a car, according to police. The latest gun violence brings the number of people shot in the city this year to at least 348, according to data kept by the Tribune. There have been at least 76 homicides. The numbers continue a trend of fewer shootings and fewer homicides this year than in the last two years, when violence hit record levels in the city. Shootings are still substantially higher than other recent years.

348 people shot in 2 months this year. Where is the outrage, where are the news crews crawling over every inch of government. Oh this is a Liberal run city/state. So shhhhh. Quiet. Oh look over there, the GOP run state has a school shooting. Blame the NRA and gun owners (for the Sheriff and FBI's screwup.)

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
To trust arms in the hands of the people at large has, in Europe, been believed...to be an experiment fraught only with danger. Here by a long trial it has been proved to be perfectly harmless...If the government be equitable; if it be reasonable in its exactions; if proper attention be paid to the education of children in knowledge and religion, few men will be disposed to use arms, unless for their amusement, and for the defence of themselves and their country. — Timothy Dwight, Travels in New England and New York [London 1823] |
