| What the hell is an "illegal gun"? I am put near fifty years old, been shooting all my life (well, since seven when I had my Daisey BB gun for Christmas). Never have I had or seen an 'Illegal gun'. |

I'm going to try and start a blog swarm at WarOnGuns to get gun owners to buy a box of ammo on Aug 28--be nice if gun stores would offer some sort of nominal discount or a door prize (no purchase necessary to enter, just to keep things legal) or some such on that day to encourage this--Tuesdays may typically be slow days anyway, so this would get people in their stores and probably work out to their profit.
It'd be nice unintended consequences for the Bradys if we could demonstrate a few percentage points of sales increases on that day because of this. |

| Great idea, Mr. Codrea. Heck, I might just pick up that .45 I've been thinking about. And a CASE of ammunition. |

By the way, it looks as if the law will pass. In California, an "illegal gun" will be one that doesn't stamp the primer and cartridge casing face with a unique identifying number. They're proud of being the FIRST state to require it. They were among the FIRST states to invite people to register their ARs and AKs or be criminals, and then went and collected all the registered rifles from the 2% of owners foolish enough to comply. California leads the way, boldly goose-stepping into the future. |

Re "goose-stepping into the future," I can't decide which is the more effective image, ranks of JBTs or a single bloated Kalifornistanian foie-gras goose waddling and pooping.
It is a great phrase and the tension between the similes makes it better.

I see the Philippines is tired of people smuggling American CARS into the islands. The government destroyed a bunch of them yesterday with construction equipment, saying it would teach smugglers a lesson. Yeah, smuggle something smaller. Perfectly good, new cars. Lincoln Nasvigators to Lamborghinis, because they're "illegal." Meaning no one got government permission or paid the tax. Think about it, now. They smuggle SUVs. Guns. Pfaw, guns would be no problem at all. |

| >Yawn< Jesse Jackson and his Rent-a-Mob carrying signs and chanting, followed by Paul Helmke bleating "It's for the children." Nothing new here. Why is it newsworthy? I can't think of anything about which I care less than Jesse Jackson's opinion about anything. |
