Adam Winkler, a liberal law professor writing in The Washington Post, argued that changing demographics in America will doom the National Rifle Association as the white majority shrinks and minorities grow in population.
In Winkler’s piece, "The NRA will fall. It’s inevitable," he explained:
“The core of the NRA’s support comes from white, rural and relatively less educated voters. This demographic is currently influential in politics but clearly on the wane.” Using demographic characteristics to back up his claim, he says that whites who make up 63% of the population today will soon be outnumbered: |

I am an NRA member with a BS in mechanical engineering and professional engineering license in four states. And I can name dozens of well educated professional people that are NRA members.
Calling me uneducated is about as racist as calling a black person a *****.
I should also point out that this racist is completely wrong on why the NRA's focus shifted to self defense. It was a matter of self preservation when the liberals started calling for more gun control.

Prof. Winkler is badly misinformed or misinforming. I am a University graduate with a BA in Criminal Justice, and nearly 35 years in law enforcement. I have been an NRA life member since 1983 and am an NRA & state certified firearms instructor and am certified to teach the permit-to-carry course in Minnesota. I know of numerous NRA members who are college graduates in various fields and all held in high regard in their respective communities. Many of my friends and fellow Vietnam veterans have advanced degrees and contribute untold volunteer hours to their communities. All have a great respect for this country. Methinks Prof. Winkler is just trying to be controversial writing his "anti" drivel with no facts to back it up. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
"Some people think that the Second Amendment is an outdated relic of an earlier time. Doubtless some also think that constitutional protections of other rights are outdated relics of earlier times. We The People own those rights regardless, unless and until We The People repeal them. For those who believe it to be outdated, the Second Amendment provides a good test of whether their allegiance is really to the Constitution of the United States, or only to their preferences in public policies and audiences. The Constitution is law, not vague aspirations, and we are obligated to protect, defend, and apply it. If the Second Amendment were truly an outdated relic, the Constitution provides a method for repeal. The Constitution does not furnish the federal courts with an eraser." --9th Circuit Court Judge Andrew Kleinfeld, dissenting opinion in which the court refused to rehear the case while citing deeply flawed anti-Second Amendment nonsense (Nordyke v. King; opinion filed April 5, 2004) |
