A Henry County grand jury declined to indict a Locust Grove teenager in the May shooting death of his sister’s boyfriend.
According to Henry County Superior Court records, the grand jury returned a no bill of indictment against Jared Lyon, 15, during its July 9 session.
Grand jurors rejected the charges of voluntary manslaughter and felony murder in the shooting death of Dalton McCollough. Henry County police Capt. Joey Smith said McCollough, 17, drove to the Lyon home on Wyckliffe Drive house to meet with his girlfriend. |

But...but...you can't leave guns laying around where minors might get their hands on them...it's far better to have somebody beat your children with a baseball bat than to let them touch a gun... |

WTF? Charge him as an adult for murder a week after the shooting, then run it by a grand jury 3 months later?

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
"Secrecy is the keystone of all tyranny. Not force, but secrecy ... censorship. When any government, or any church, for that matter, undertakes to say to it's subjects, 'This you may not read, this you must not see, this you are forbidden to know,' the end result is tyranny and oppression, no matter how holy the motives. Mighty little force is needed to control a man whose mind has been hoodwinked; contrariwise, no amount of force can control a free man, a man whose mind is free. No, not the rack, not fission bombs, not anything. You cannot conquer a free man; the most you can do is kill him." --Robert A. Heinlein, "Revolt in 2100" (Pg. 68-69, Baen Books paperback edition, 1999 printing) |
