Inflammatory commentary about the merits and risks of selling flamethrowers to the masses aside, Fouts questioned the product’s materials testing and overall safety. He brushed aside any assertion that banning a commercially-available handheld flamethrower would infringe on the rights of residents afforded under the Second Amendment.
“This isn’t a constitutional right any more than it’s a constitutional right to have hand grenades,” Fouts said. “You could really get ridiculous. According to the Geneva Convention, I think it’s been outlawed. I can’t see any good coming from a potentially very lethal weapon of mass destruction.” |
