We have had 307 mass shootings this year in the U.S. That is 307 too many. We must enact common sense gun legislation in our country. I respect the Second Amendment, and we can ensure both the right to own guns and be safe in our schools and gathering places.
We could: 1) require background checks on all gun purchasers; 2) license firearm owners; 3) register firearms; 4) regulate firearms dealers and ammunition sellers; 5) require the reporting of lost or stolen firearms; 6) impose a waiting period before the sale of a firearm; and 7) limit firearm purchases to one per person every 90 days. |

Some of these are already in place. Limiting people to buying a gun every 90 days is stupid and futile, since the mass shooters use guns they already own. Even with this law, a nut buys a Glock and a few mags and boxes of ammo..... hey, wait 90 days? Why? He has what he needs right there.
Arm the people! The only way to ameliorate the carnage is for good people to be able to STOP IT! |

You mean like the Tyrants of past history have done? Hitler, Stalin and the like.. How about making some more, "Feel Good" legislation that criminals will follow. It appears that there are enough laws on the books already that need to be enforced first. Disarm the law abiding because of the actions of criminals? We refuse. Any person advocating gun control, gun registration, etc., of law abiding citizens, does not deserve to be an elected representative. |

TO REMEMBER |
As an individual, I believe, very strongly, that handguns should be banned and that there should be stringent, effective control of other firearms. However, as a judge, I know full well that the question of whether handguns can be sold is a political one, not an issue of products liability law, and that this is a matter for the legislatures, not the courts. The unconventional theories advanced in this case (and others) are totally without merit, a misuse of products liability laws. — Judge Buchmeyer, Patterson v. Gesellschaft, 1206 F.Supp. 1206, 1216 (N.D. Tex. 1985) |
