Wertz told KOAT 7 TV news she works until 10 p.m. and often feels uncomfortable walking to her vehicle after the shift. She made sure it was in her pocket after she heard another nearby store was victimized by an armed robber earlier in the day.
It would be a fairy tale ending—with law enforcement telling the station she faces no charges and the alleged perpetrator expected to recover and face charges—but, Wertz was on the clock for a convenience store chain with a strict employee firearms policy. She was immediately suspended for two weeks. KRQE news reports she’s now been fired. |

Reading the article, I came across the "GoFundMe" info. They were looking for support in terms of $20,000. They have $70,000. I wish them well that this amount helps them.

These businesses have policies preventing employees from having firearms because they don't care about the employees.
If the employee gets shot or killed during a robbery, it is considered a workplace injury/death and is covered by workmans compensation insurance. There is no financial damage to the business other than a hundred dollars that the robbers take during the robbery.
On the other hand, if their employee shoots a robber, they may get sued by the miscreant.
Being shot is probably the only punishment the robber will face. If he isn't in the hospital, he is probably already back on the street casing the next store he will rob.
I hope this young lady gets a better job with an employer that appreciates a dedicated employee. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
For, in principle, there is no difference between a law prohibiting the wearing of concealed arms, and a law forbidding the wearing such as are exposed; and if the former be unconstitutional, the latter must be so likewise. But it should not be forgotten, that it is not only a part of the right that is secured by the constitution; it is the right entire and complete, as it existed at the adoption of the constitution; and if any portion of that right be impaired, immaterial how small the part may be, and immaterial the order of time at which it be done, it is equally forbidden by the constitution.
