At its annual meeting in Chicago last week, the American Medical Association (AMA) expanded on its list of proposed “common-sense solutions” to the problem of “gun violence” that it has been proposing for years. AMA’s former president, David O. Barbe, M.D., claimed that gun violence is a public health crisis.

How to reduce gun violence. Hmm.

Well, we could reduce the penalty on murder and attempted murder not committed with a gun. We could air-drop swords, bombs, knives, etc., into the high-crime areas. We should be able to shift a significant percentage of gun violence to non-gun violence. Overall, the murder rate might go up if we're essentially signaling societal consent for non-gun murders, but since we're only concerned about gun murders, it should be just fine.
