Remington Arms has laid off 122 employees.
Village officials are calling it a "reflection on the economy."
Ilion Mayor Terry Leonard told Eyewitness News he has been informed by management at the plant that the move is the result of low sales. Remington Arms has seen periodic layoffs in the past.but some of those let go were brought back when sales picked up.
Roughly 960 employees remain on the job at America's oldest gun manufacture,which is also the village's largest employer. |

| Remington just opened a facility in Huntsville Alabama .... I wonder if that fact might be atleast partially responsible for the layoffs in Ilion? |
