"An FBI agent shot an associate of an armed civilian border group Wednesday while attempting to arrest another member of the organization."
"The incident occurred about 11:15 p.m. Wednesday when FBI agents attempted to arrest Casey James Nethercott, 37, in the parking lot of a supermarket in Douglas in southern Arizona, Charlene Thornton, special agent in charge of the Phoenix office of the FBI, said in a statement. Nethercott was wanted on charges of threatening to assault three U.S. Border Patrol agents in August."
"While agents attempted to make the arrest, actions taken by Nethercott and a second man, Kalen Robert Riddle, 22, led one of the agents to fire at Riddle."
"Special Agent Susan Herskovits, an FBI spokeswoman, would not elaborate." |
