After their elections, county sheriffs take an oath to uphold the laws of the country, state and county — even when they disagree. At least 13 county sheriffs have said they won’t enforce the state’s new gun law, Initiative 1639. They must reconsider, enforce the law as it is and find another, legal way to protest. Not to do so is to flout their oath and responsibility to citizens. |

Wrong. All government officials are bound by oath to uphold, defend and protect the Constitution. If a legislature passes and a governor signs an unconstitutional law, it is by nature of its unconstitutionality null and void.
And contrary to popular belief, the Constitution is what it is and says what it says quite apart from court opinions. In our system of government, courts, legislatures and executive branches are co-equal, and courts are not superior to the other two.
And none of them are superior to the document that limits their powers. |

You don't vote on Rights. They apparently realize that by following illegal orders that appear, and probably are illegal should be ignored. Why would they want to be an accomplice in the actions against law abiding citizens of this nation? The Sheriffs don't want to do your dirty and illegal work for you.. TITLE 18, U.S.C., SECTION 242 states that those actions are a federal crime.

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
I do believe that where there is a choice only between cowardice and violence, I would advise violence. Thus when my eldest son asked me what he should have done had he been present when I was almost fatally assaulted in 1908 [by an Indian extremist opposed to Gandhi's agreement with Smuts], whether he should have run away and seen me killed or whether he should have used his physical force which he could and wanted to use, and defend me, I told him it was his duty to defend me even by using violence. Hence it was that I took part in the Boer War, the so-called Zulu Rebellion and [World War I]. Hence also do I advocate training in arms for those who believe in the method of violence. I would rather have India resort to arms in order to defend her honor than that she should in a cowardly manner become or remain a helpless witness to her own dishonor. — Mohandas K. Gandhi, Young India, August 11, 1920 from Fischer, Louis ed.,The Essential Gandhi, 1962 |
