In Tennessee, a school district has decided that defending yourself from an attacker is no excuse for fighting in school. Which is a fairly widespread policy. At least, it’s that way in the schools in my area as well. If two students fight, they’re both punished regardless if one instigated it or not
Which means that a bully can essentially pull a good student down to his/her level simply by instigating a fight. The bully goes up, starts an altercation, and the end result is that both students are treated as though they did something wrong. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
Government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem.... We've been tempted to believe that society has become too complex to be managed by self-rule, that government by an elite group is superior to government for, by, and of the people. Well, if no one among us is capable of government himself, then who among us has the capacity to govern someone else? All of us together, in and out of government, must bear the burden. The solutions we seek must be equitable, with no one group singled out to pay a higher price. — Ronald Reagan |
