Today, January 22nd, legislation was introduced in the Alabama Legislature to create a new lifetime carry permit for state residents. Please contact your lawmakers and urge them to SUPPORT House Bill 39 and Senate Bill 47.
House Bill 39, sponsored by Representative Proncey Robertson, and Senate Bill 47, sponsored by Senator Randy Price, will create a new statewide, uniform system to provide lifetime permits for qualified applicants at the cost of $200. For state residents over 65, the fee will drop to $150. HB 39 and SB 47 are companion bills and we need both measures passed to secure passage of this critical legislation. |

On July 23rd, 2019, Alabama residents lost the ability to use their coneared carry permit to complete a NICS check instead of driver license + call to NICS center. This was due to some Alabama county sheriffs not checking out ccw applicants correctly, and subsequently discovering forbidden people were getting ccw and then, guns.
A few sheriffs cut out our ability to shorten the nics system.
Hopefully, this will correct this matter and making ccw a state wide matter, rather than county-by- county, will allow us to return to the ccw based nics, which was very convenient. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
I do believe that where there is a choice only between cowardice and violence, I would advise violence. Thus when my eldest son asked me what he should have done had he been present when I was almost fatally assaulted in 1908 [by an Indian extremist opposed to Gandhi's agreement with Smuts], whether he should have run away and seen me killed or whether he should have used his physical force which he could and wanted to use, and defend me, I told him it was his duty to defend me even by using violence. Hence it was that I took part in the Boer War, the so-called Zulu Rebellion and [World War I]. Hence also do I advocate training in arms for those who believe in the method of violence. I would rather have India resort to arms in order to defend her honor than that she should in a cowardly manner become or remain a helpless witness to her own dishonor. — Mohandas K. Gandhi, Young India, August 11, 1920 from Fischer, Louis ed.,The Essential Gandhi, 1962 |
