The reality of those with even a faint dusting of common sense, surrendering your life to someone doesn't offer much chance of survival in today's world is a given. This 'advice' might well have been appropriate some three decades's back when the criminal element had some fear of law enforcement. Today's citizen faces not only the drug-crazed, but the wannabe gang aspirant needing to 'make his bones' by 'busting caps' on their victim. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
The supposed quietude of a good mans allures the ruffian; while on the other hand, arms like laws discourage and keep the invader and the plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property. The same balance would be preserved were all the world destitute of arms, for all would be alike; but since some will not, others dare not lay them aside...Horrid mischief would ensue were one half the world deprived of the use of them... — Thomas Paine, I Writings of Thomas Paine at 56 (1894). |
