(Pay wall. Screw 'em.)
"[L]ocal governments are entitled to 'absolute legislative immunity' when acting in their official capacity."
Delusions of grandeur.
And absolute nonsense. When local governments disobey state law under color of authority, they have committed an offense. The state government classifies it as such, and the 2011 amendment to that prohibition creates penalties for violations. Both the core law and its amended form are within the state's powers and subdivisions of the state serve at the pleasure of the state, not the other way around.
This behavior is typical of 'progressives,' and they cannot be permitted to get away with it.

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
Government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem.... We've been tempted to believe that society has become too complex to be managed by self-rule, that government by an elite group is superior to government for, by, and of the people. Well, if no one among us is capable of government himself, then who among us has the capacity to govern someone else? All of us together, in and out of government, must bear the burden. The solutions we seek must be equitable, with no one group singled out to pay a higher price. — Ronald Reagan |
